Stream Now Only Murders in the building: Three strangers share an obsession with true crime and suddenly find themselves wrapped up in one. In this post we will tell you all about it!
What is it Only Murders in the building?
Only Murders in the Building is an American mystery comedy-drama television. The ten-episode first season premiered on Hulu in August 2021. Canada is streaming it on Disney+. The plot follows three strangers with a shared interest in true crime podcasts. The series has received critical acclaim for its comedic approach to crime fiction, as well as the performances and chemistry among the lead performers.
Principal Photography for the first season began on December 3, 2020, in New York City]and concluded in April 2021. The Belnord was used for exterior shots of the Arconia. Filming of the second season began on December 1, 2021. Filming for the third season is set to start in late 2022.
In the first season, after a suspicious death in their affluent Upper West Side apartment building, the three neighbours start their own podcast about their investigation. The series has received numerous accolades, including nominations for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series and for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for Martin and Short. In July 2022, the series was renewed for a third season.
One mystery’s solved: Only Murders in the Building season 3 is officially next in the lineup. The renewal news came just three episodes into season 2, with Hulu Originals and ABC Entertainment president Craig Erwich calling it the “true crown jewel of our slate.”
He said in a statement “Its appeal across generations, the intersection of humour and heart, and its truly original approach are a hallmark of and testament to Dan [Fogelman], John [Hoffman], Steve, Marty and Selena’s work. We are grateful to be able to continue telling the stories of Charles, Oliver and Mabel to viewers that have consistently shown us they crave more of this story.”
Even If you’re not a fan of true crime podcasts, this show is for you. Not only has a stellar cast led by Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez with an enormous variety of talented supporting actors, most of them Tony award winners. Only Murders in the building is back for a new season, with the recurrent cast and new guest appearances like Amy Schumer and Paul Rudd.
Co-created and written by Martin and John Hoffman based on an idea by Martin, Only Murders In The Building follows three strangers (Martin, Short and Gomez) who share an obsession with true crime and suddenly find themselves wrapped up in one as they investigate the mysterious death of a neighbour in their New York City apartment building.
(Spoiler Alert) Season one ended with the murder of Bunny Folger (Jayne Houdyshell), the board president of Arconia, a swanky apartment building on the Upper West Side in New York. Detective-podcasters Charles-Haden Savage, Oliver Putnam and Mabel Mora are arrested for the crime. Season 2 picks up from the ending of season 1 where Mabel was suspected of murdering Bunny Folger, the Board President of the building. Their task remains to solve the murder once again and free Mabel’s name from culpability. But they face stiff competition from the murderer who is always one step ahead and instead, does everything in their power to frame Mabel and plants evidence against her.
My thoughts about Only Murders in Building 2
The show is refreshing; the funny part is that it has nothing new; it is like watching Woody Allen’s Manhattan Murder Mystery 2020 version. But with all the comedy shows around with the mockumentary style, it is refreshing to see someone appealing to nostalgia. And who better to do it than veteran actor and creator Steve Martin?
I love how season 2 ended. You know something like that will happen to set season 3, but you didn’t expect how or who would be murdered? I can’t wait for the release of the new season. Streaming in Canada on Disney+ and Hulu in the USA.
